Open Enrollment + New Skater Recruitment
When: Every Saturday in August
Where: Star Castle, 550 Mall Blvd.
Open to kids ages 10-17 interested in joining the team. Prospective skaters may attend the entire month for free. Rental skates, helmets and pads available for free use. RSVP appreciated so that we may ensure correct skate sizes are available.
Formed in 2012, the Savannah Junior Roller Derby is the Savannah Derby Devils’ junior league for kids ages 10 to 17. The league practices on Saturdays and Tuesdays at Star Castle Family Entertainment Center.
The Juniors are a member of the Junior Roller Derby Association and follows the rules and standards of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association. All coaching staff members have prior derby experience as either players or refs.
New skaters may join during the league’s open enrollment periods. Prior skating experience is helpful but not required. There are no try-outs. Skaters must be able to complete one lap around the track without falling down to join, however, more advanced skills are required to compete. Skates, helmets and protective gear are available for free use until your skater gets her own. Skaters must have medical insurance and must bring their own sports mouth guard.
