Been a while since you've been to practice?

If you find on this forum that you no longer have access to the SDD Private Discussion Board, then that probably means it's been more than three months since we last saw you! Time flies, eh?

If you'd like to recommit to SDD practices, then let's make it happen. Depending on how long you've been gone, rejoining may require catching up on back dues, updating skills/rules testing, updating membership in USARS or entering through one of our upcoming tryouts dates. Let us know you would like to rejoin by emailing our Training Committee leader at felonymelanie@rocketmail.com.

We hope whatever stood between you and derby has now passed and look forward to seeing you soon!

Attendance policy

a) A skater(s) designated by the league president will be responsible for taking attendance at all official league practices

b) The date when attendance will start counting will be set by CHs (committee heads) with input from the league unless the league has approved a repeating schedule.  Example: this year, the league passed that in 2009 attendance starts counting Jan 1 and is reset on June 1.

c) A new skater's attendance will start counting the practice after they pass the current WFTDA Minimum Skill Requirements and the written rules test. Skaters are eligible to bout, to access private boards on the forum and to vote per the attendance policy & active skater status rules. (New skaters who enter through tryouts or Boot Camp may receive temporary access to the Private Discussion Board ((not league business or polls)) until WFTDA skills testing deadline has passed.)

d) The Training CH may set an attendance cutoff date of no more than a month before a bout so a roster can be established. Priority on the roster will be given in the following order:
•   66 percent attendance or better
•   Skill (discretion of training committee)
•   Participation in league activities other than bouting (promotional events, fundraisers, etc.) (Discretion of committee heads)
•   Length of continuous active membership in league.

e) A skater with 0% attendance for ≥3 months must contact the training committee head before rejoining practices and is required to complete the following:
•   Pay back dues or complete a financial hardship form
•   Pass the current WFTDA Minimum Skill Requirements and the latest version of the League’s written skills test.
Or
•   Pass the next try-out.  (attendance and dues will go back to zero)

f) A skater with less than 10% attendance for 12 months or more may not rejoin practices unless she does so as a new skater through boot camp or a tryouts day. After 3 months of 0% attendance, a skater will no longer have access to the SDD private discussion board and will no longer have voting privileges. Exceptions can be made for skaters who are ill or pregnant but remain active through participation in practices.

g) Injured or ill skaters will receive half credit for attending practices. Per the discretion of the Training CH, seriously injured or ill skaters must produce a doctor's release before being allowed to skate.

h) Maternity leave: A skater's attendance is no longer counted once she notifies the Training CH she is pregnant. Following pregnancy, the skater should contact the Training CH before rejoining practices and pass a basic skills test. If she has been absent an extended period of time, she may be asked to enter practices as a new skater via boot camp or a tryouts day.

i) Referee attendance requirements fall under the discretion of the acting head referee.

j) Here is how various skating states are currently recorded for attendance...
•   Skating ½ practice  = 50%
•   No skating/no injury = 25%
•   No skating/with injury = 50%
